Time of Our Lives | Chapter 1.1

A lot has happened since Luna Hamming moved to downtown Belladonna Cove. Good, bad, ugly. But, I suppose we should start from the beginning.

Luna Hamming, eighteen, fresh from the hills of a town you've probably never heard of. And even though this is the start of our story, it is far from the start of Luna's story.

The Hamming family resided in Riverblossom Hills. A small town in point blank nowhere that most people have never heard of. Luna's family consisted of her mother, father, an older sister, and a younger sister. They owned a large plot of land nestled in the corner of the town. Built on the land was a large colonial style house and something that resembled a barn. Though, her family never had any animals. Her father used the 'barn' as a get away and it gave the aesthetic that they were the perfect family.

Riverblossom Hills was a conservative town. Filled with mostly elderly people whom watered their flowers every morning and picture perfect families. Well, at least that was how they liked to put it. The whole town was hypocritical. Mr.Jenkins sent his daughter away because she had a drug problem, but if you asked him he'd say she moved away to raise a family. Martha from down the street has a gambling addiction, but everyone just turns their head. None of them were truly as perfect as they thought they were, but anyone who stepped out of line was deemed weird. Girls who went through a 'emo' phase were deemed satanic, weird, and unholy simply because they decided to dye their hair black or paint their nails some color other than baby pink. Soccer moms would gossip about the latest rumor of teen sex, and say they knew it all along.

If you're bored from reading that description, then you can only imagine the boredom that surrounded Riverblossom Hills teenagers. Some of the teens were snooty, but no where near as bad as their parents. Most of them were dying for something to do, or a way out of the no good, boring, judgmental town. 'Dullsville' as some of them would call it.

There was nothing for teenagers to do in town. The closest shopping mall was an hour and a half away and most parents would refuse to let their children go without a chaperone. So, they were left to their own devices.

Luna had everything, or that was what most people would say. Her family was wealthy and she didn't have to worry about college, or anything financial related for that matter. She had naturally blonde hair and ice blue eyes. A spitting image of her mother. And though her appearance made it seem as if she'd fit in swell in Riverblossom Hills, she didn't. Like most teenagers in RB, she was bored. She craved for something different, something more in life. She didn't want to become some secretary like her mother. She wanted out of Dullsville.

That was why when she met Derek Chapman she fell completely head over heels in love with him. She was fifteen when she met him and he was close to turning eighteen. He was a 'bad boy' or as close to being a bad boy as you could get in Riverblossom Hills. He knew of an abandoned barn out in the forests of Riverblossom Hills and he would hold raging parties at it. He always somehow managed to get alcohol there, even though Dullsvillians seemed to look down on even adults drinking. Most of all, he was leaving Riverblossom Hills the day he turned eighteen. His parents had given him an old family car and he had been saving money since he was fourteen. He told everyone he was going to move to a big city and become a rockstar. Most people snickered at him, and so did Luna, at the rockstar part at least, but it was a way out. She could run away with him. The idea seemed far-fetched, but it was all she wanted.

Luna made sure to sneak to every part he held in the old, torn up, and falling down barn. Over the course of a few months they became pretty close, and eventually began dating, as most teenagers get in and out of relationships easily. He promised her everything she wished for. A way out. He said he'd take her far away where she'd never have to see Riverblossom Hills again, and she believed him. So much, that she was willing to do anything for him. They slept together several times, she wasn't on birth control, but he used a condom.

Luna overslept on the day of Derek's eighteenth birthday. She woke up at two in the afternoon. Frantic, she tired to call him several times, no answer. They were supposed to leave at noon. She ran to his house, knocking on the door, but his parents answered only to inform her that Derek was already long gone. He had left a eight that morning. Her heart sunk to her stomach and she spent much of the next few weeks crying, and getting sick. At first, she thought she was getting only because of how upset she was, but it wasn't going away and it was only in the morning. And then she missed her period. She wasn't stupid. Her life was over.

There isn't much left to tell after that. She told her parents and begged them to let her stay with them until she could get on her feet. They refused. She scrounged up all the money in her piggy bank and told a taxi driver to take her anyway. She ended up in a town two hours north of Riverblossom Hills. For the first few weeks she was living on the street, barely getting by. An older lady ended up finding her sleeping on a park bench and took her to a women's shelter. There was some debate about taking her back to her parents considering her age, but once Luna told them she had been kicked out they decided to let her stay. It was nice and she had a warm bed to sleep in and food to eat. It took a while to adjust, but everyone there was kind to her. They helped her when no one else was there for her.

It was an early July morning when her daughter was born. The love she felt the moment she looked upon the tiny baby was something she had never felt before. All Luna's life she had felt wrong, uncomfortable with herself and her surroundings. She did everything she could to try and make herself feel as if she belonged. She tried to be the perfect daughter that her parents wanted and when that didn't work she turned to trying to impress the other teenagers of her boring washed up town. Smoking, drinking, and dancing in a barn that was falling apart until the early hours of the morning-- but nothing she did ever made her feel happy, like she truly belonged. Though, as she looked down into the blue eyes of her daughter, she had a purpose. And for once it wasn't trying to fit in with either of the extremes. It wasn't wearing frilly white dresses to church on Sunday and it wasn't trying to entertain her peers in the late hours of Friday night. It was taking care of the innocent child she held in her arms.

She named the baby Brinley Rae and for the next couple years of their life they stayed within the women's shelter. The women working there and the other women staying there helped care for Brinley as Luna finished high school online. She worked hard. She wanted to prove to everyone, including her family back in Riverblossom Hills that she could be a teenage mom and still be successful.

Luna decided it was time to leave the women's shelter when Brinley was nearing two years old. It was hard to leave the sure safety she had there, but she knew it had to be done sometime.

__

This leads us to the first picture. It took Luna a bit to decide exactly where she wanted to go. She had the whole world to choose from, but one of the women from the shelter told her that Belladonna Cove seemed like a good fit for her. Bustling city life and a good amount of young people just like her. Downtown Belladonna Cove seemed just about perfect. So, she dyed her hair a shade of red and set off.

Luna didn't have a whole lot of money starting out, so the most she could afford was a small trailer in a run down trailer park. It was sketchy, but it was a roof over their head. That didn't mean she didn't aspire for more. Searching for a job wasn't and everything seemed to require a college degree. After a few months she turned to a darker way of earning money.

Weed wasn't something she had a whole lot of experience with. Derek would have it at his barn parties sometimes and she had tried it a couple of times, but that was all. Still, after talking to some of her neighbors within the trailer park, they had convinced her that growing it and selling it would be a way to make a good profit, and she could still be at home taking care of her daughter. She was hesitant, but the thought of being able to provide for her daughter was more than enough to fuel her to do so.

Growing it wasn't quite as easy as it might seem and it took a lot of time for her to tend to it. Not to mention she was constantly paranoid that she'd get in trouble. How would she provide for her daughter if she were in jail.

--

After several months of selling she had saved up enough money to buy a slightly bigger house. Not to mention it was quite a bit nicer and away from the sketchy neighborhood. They were now living in a one story, one bedroom house instead of a single room trailer. She continued to grow and sell the Marijuana, though her gut was against it.

--

Their new home happened to only be a few minutes away from the nicer part of town where the Wilkons family resided.

The Wilkons family consisted of Matthew Wilkons, his wife Melissa Wilkons, and their daughter Kayla Wilkons. Kayla was around the same age as Brinley, around two years old at this time.

Matthew Wilkons is a very wealthy business man, in fact, the Wilkons family had always been known for being wealthy. They were known for a lot of things actually. There are whispers on the street that his relatives might be something more than human. Matthew himself is completely human, but he couldn't deny his family was odd. He was raised by his grandmother as his parents disappeared when he was just a young. He was raised in the same house that he is living in currently with his family. When Matthew turned eighteen his grandmother seemed to disappear too, though before she left she told him that he needed to protect the house and himself. It wasn't until a few years later that he found the layer deep within the earth below his house that contained covens and spooky statues. He never went down their again and he keeps the door that leads there bolted shut, but it has never sat quite well with him.

Regardless, our story currently doesn't have much to do with that. At the age of twenty-five he ended up marrying gold digger, attention-seeking Melissa, and only about a year later  she gave birth to their daughter Kayla. He couldn't deny that he felt trapped. His love for Melissa grew thin, the only thing keeping him around being his reputation and his daughter.

It was a crisp fall afternoon when he saw Luna Hamming for the first time. She was undeniably beautiful as she pushed a toddler in a stroller down the street past his house. Her face gave off a sense of youth and innocence, she seemed almost too young have a child. He almost wondered if it were her sister rather than daughter. He purposely 'accidentally' bumped into her shoulder and she was quick to apologize in a quiet voice, her burgundy hair glistening in the sun. Matthew told her it was her fault and introduced himself. Some small talk was exchanged. He told her he hadn't seen her around and she told him she was new. They got on easily. Luna felt comfortable talking to him as if she were talking to an old friend. She explained that she had been young when she had Brinley and her parents kicked her out. She explained everything.

Matthew felt sorry for the girl and on top of that he couldn't deny he was attracted to her. He wanted to tell her to move in and that she'd never have to worry about money or anything for that matter again, but he had a family and he was sure that would go over well.

Eventually she continued on her walk, but the two stayed in touch. Matthew would come and visit her small house, and although she was embarrassed of her house compared to his, Matthew never really considered it. He found out about her selling weed and basically begged her to stop. Not so much because it bothered him but because he didn't want her to get in trouble. He told her that he'd give her money, if she'd just stop.

Luna couldn't bring herself to accept money from him, but she did quit. She had been considering it for a long while and Matthew asking her to pretty much gave her the answer. She didn't enjoy it, it wasn't how she wanted to make her money.

--

Years passed, Luna got odd and end jobs here and there. She would mow lawns and babysit the neighborhood kids. She made just enough money to get by. She stayed in touch with Matthew and they became best friends. He got close with Brinley and would come over all of the time. He didn't tell his wife about Luna. He knew that even though they were just friends she wouldn't enjoy the thought of him spending all of his time with another women. Besides, Matthew's feelings for Luna went much further than just friends.

Luna had matured visually a bit throughout the years. Her cheeks not quite as full and childlike. She dyed her hair from the burgundy color to a brown that faded into blonde. Still, Luna was only twenty-two, going on twenty-three, while Matthew was thirty-three.

One night Luna had just gotten seven year old Brinley to sleep. Her and Matthew were sitting in her bedroom listening to music quietly enough to wake up the child. In a heat of the moment passion they ended up kissing, and eventually sleeping together. It was a mistake and Matthew left quickly, apologizing for what had happened. Though, he didn't need to apologize. Luna had had a crush on the older man for several years at that point. Her only regret was that he was married.

It was something that would happen again several times in the course of the next year. They never talked about it, it just happened. Afterwards they would act like it never happened and they were just friends.

--

Luna was twenty-four when she found out she was pregnant for the second time. It was a blessing and a curse. being the family oriented person she was, she wanted nothing more than a big happy family, but her and Matthew weren't married. She once again would be having a child with someone who had no intentions to commit to her. She told Matthew and he promised he would be financially there for her all the time. Money was great, but she didn't want to raise another child without it's father. Matthew started coming over less and less and it seemed like he all but forgot about her. He would send her cheeks with large amounts of money in them. Everything in her wanted to shred them, or send them back. She knew she needed the money. She didn't have a stable job and was already raising an eight year old.

She bought a nice house, one that was big enough for her, Brinley and the new baby. Things seemed to be looking up, in some ways at least. She was upset because of Matthew, but she had a nice house, a big kitchen where she could cook her daughter any meal she wanted in the whole world. It was comforting.

--

Luna gave birth to not one baby, but two. She had twins. A boy and a girl. She named them Aiden and Ava. Matthew never once came to see them. He would sometimes drop his daughter Kayla off to play with Brinley as they had became friends, but that was the most she had seen of him.

Currently, the twins are four months old, Brinley is nine, and Luna is twenty-five. She is living life as it comes at her. She does still wish to get married, but in her current situation the most important thing in her life in her children.

[ A/N: I know this is written as well as it could be. I may redo it eventually, but I'm a little rusty when it comes to writing. This is my first Sims story and I'm super excited to share it with you guys. Since it is my first I can't promise it's going to be super 'formal.' Most of the time it will be written in third person point of view, but it may sometimes be first person.

The point of this story is to basically just follow their lives. I have no exact plot in mind, but storytelling is a very important part of my simmming. I have been playing the sims for years and I have always told stories to myself, but I want to share them. ]
